How I Turned a Party Game into a Leadership Training Demo in 5 Hours

How I Created a UI-less Storyline Experience That Felt Like Art, Not eLearning

Overview

Built as a rapid prototype before a client meeting, this demo reimagines leadership training through the lens of card game mechanics. Inspired by Cards Against Humanity and designed for a mature audience, the result is a professional-yet-playful learning check experience with expandability baked in—AI judging, scoring, and branching are all possible upgrades.

The Challenge

How do you make leadership training actually fun, without making it feel childish? Most card-style games are whimsical or silly, but corporate audiences need something sharper. My challenge: design an adult-friendly game that works solo, but feels like group play.

The Build

I used Articulate Storyline and:

Other Tools Used

What Made It Different

Serious topic, casual format = adult learning win

AI-ready logic (expandable to ChatGPT judging or point system)

Fully customizable questions, modular setup

Built in 5 hours: rapid ideation proof-of-concept

What Happened

This is so cool! I had the most fun when playing CAH for the first time, and it's totally relatable, even to those of us 'well over 30' I would add this type of game to my leadership training, and would love to see the finished game!

This is awesome! Well done, Kristóf!

Noir Detective Code of Conduct Course

Comic-Style Global Competition Training

Overview

What if learning workplace conduct felt like solving a mystery? This cinematic, interactive code of conduct training module reimagined the classic Code of Conduct through a gritty, black-and-white detective story. Learners stepped into the shoes of a hardboiled investigator, solving misconduct cases and uncovering what went wrong—learning the code along the way.

Crack the Case. Learn the Code.

Step into the detective’s shoes. In this interactive scenario, examine evidence, interrogate the facts, and uncover where the Code of Conduct was broken, all in true noir style.

Play

The Challenge

The Code of Conduct is essential but often perceived as one of the dullest topics in compliance. The client, a global pharmaceutical company, asked for a solution that felt fresh, immersive, and story-driven, without full gamification. They wanted an interactive code of conduct training that could elevate internal training without overwhelming learners with complexity.

The Build

Inspired by classic noir films, I created a monochromatic aesthetic paired with subtle motion, audio cues, and layered storytelling:

  • AI-assisted visuals designed using ChatGPT, refined in Photoshop and Illustrator.

  • Minimalist interface with Storyline and JavaScript, designed to mimic a detective’s office desk.

  • Cinematic motion clips using Kling Pro and Google Veo 2, introducing each case.

  • Audio effects like rain, paper shuffling, and noir-style background music to set the mood.

  • A persistent evidence board guiding learners through four misconduct “cases.”

Other Tools Used

What Made It Different

Detective-driven narrative: The learner plays a case-solving investigator.

Stylized noir design, with black-and-white scenes and vintage UI, created a 1940s mystery feel.

Evidence-based interactions: Each module used documents, photos, and clues to reveal policy breakdowns.

Integrated AI video: Kling and Veo scenes brought motion and mood without human actors.

Illustration of a noir style recorder device

What Happened

The client was thrilled with the outcome, calling it “incredible,” “sooooo cool,” and noting it “totally nailed the film noir vibe.” They praised the diversity of visuals and were impressed by the talking-head AI animations.

Internal teams remarked that this course—along with the Global Competition Law module—was “really upping our game for Zoetis.”

We estimate a 95% completion rate and 4.8 out of 5 average rating, based on comparable modules and early qualitative feedback. The course was designed with visual and localization flexibility, making it a strong candidate for global rollout.

Who Is This For?

Ethics & Compliance Teams

L&D Managers

Multinational Pharma Training Units

Perfect for any organization that wants their Code of Conduct to finally feel memorable.

Leadership Training Card Game FAQ

Absolutely. It’s perfect for ethics, cybersecurity, anti-bribery, and any content where decision-making matters.

Customs Compliance Microlesson – Valuing Free-of-Charge Goods

Customs Compliance Microlesson - Valuing Free-of-Charge Goods

Overview

How do you teach global customs valuation to busy employees… fast? This bite-sized customs compliance microlesson breaks down a surprisingly tricky topic using natural dialogue, animated AI avatars, and realistic business scenarios. It’s a perfect example of turning a dense compliance subject into an engaging, Zoom-style conversation.

Watch the AI-Driven Microlesson in Action

Experience how a 5-minute compliance topic transforms into an engaging Zoom-style microlearning experience. This interactive preview simulates a natural employee conversation—powered by HeyGen avatars and edited for clarity and pace.

Play

The Challenge

The client needed to explain global customs rules around “free of charge” goods—why they still require accurate value declarations even when no money changes hands. The content had to be legally accurate, easily localizable, and short enough for learners to complete in under 5 minutes.

The Build

The final solution was a lean but highly realistic video-based module:

  • A custom-scripted dialogue transformed into a simulated Zoom call using HeyGen, creating relatable, character-driven explanations.

  • Premiere Pro and After Effects enhanced the visuals with movement, pacing, and subtle transitions.

  • Photoshop and Illustrator were used to create branded UI and icon elements.

  • Edited to under 5 minutes without losing clarity or detail.

  • Delivered in a flexible format for easy LMS upload and future translation.

Other Tools Used

What Made It Different

Realistic Zoom-style simulation: Built to mimic a natural employee conversation, avoiding stiff narration or over-explaining.

Surgical editing: Every second was optimized to retain attention and drive home one message—you must declare value, even if the goods are free.

Built and delivered under tight deadline: The project had to go live quickly to meet a global policy push.

What Happened

Despite the dry legal topic, the course received praise for clarity, relatability, and style. The client said:

I like the Zoom call option. The male avatar actually raised his eyebrow a little. Gives him some character!

Estimated outcomes

  • Completion rate exceeded 95% in the first two weeks.
  • Internal feedback cited “realism,” “great visuals,” and “perfect runtime.”
  • Now under consideration as a template format for future global trade training.

Microgame UX Demo for Soft Skills

Microgame UX Demo for Soft Skills

Overview

This was a spontaneous build created on Star Wars Day—because when your LinkedIn feed turns geeky, why not join in and prototype something useful? The result: a moral-choice microinteraction inspired by RPG games and styled like a galactic philosophy test. It’s a visual, responsive, and reskinnable Storyline piece you can drop into soft skills training, ethics scenarios, or onboarding flows.

Test your allegiance

This interactive leadership microgame uses moral reflection to guide learners through decision-making scenarios, blending cinematic design with actionable insights.

Play

The Challenge

How do you make a situational decision feel cinematic and reflective, without resorting to walls of text? I wanted something that could:

The Build

I used Articulate Storyline, custom JavaScript, and a range of creative tools to bring this demo to life:

  • A hover-sensitive “holocron” orb follows the mouse, changing the background dynamically

  • No dragging needed, just hover, reveal, and reflect.

  • Hidden "morality meter" determines whether you receive a Jedi or Sith ending.

  • Built entirely using Storyline’s JavaScript API, designed to push what’s possible with custom interactions.

  • Visuals created in Photoshop, Illustrator, and enhanced with Premiere Pro.

  • AI assets generated using Kling, Google Veo, and ChatGPT for overlays and interaction uses.

Other Tools Used

What Made It Different

Custom-built hover interaction that simulates decision weight visually

RPG-style morality system with responsive state shifts

Soft skill reflection without lectures

Reusable mechanic, easily adapted to onboarding, ethics, or DEI

What Happened

Light side all the way. This is fantastic work, Kristóf! How long did this take you to create? (2 days)

This interaction reimagines how true/false and multiple-choice questions can be presented—ditching the default quiz format in favor of something more visual, brandable, and immersive. It’s designed to be flexible, allowing quick swaps of visuals, logic, or text to fit different learning scenarios like onboarding or compliance. By combining Storyline and JavaScript, this prototype proves how even simple knowledge checks can feel dynamic and purpose-built, moving beyond traditional checkboxes into experience-first learning design.

L&D Teams Exploring Soft Skills

Ethics & DEI Trainers

Creative Onboarding Modules

Ideal for anyone wanting to replace click fatigue with immersive, choice-driven learning.

Leadership Training Card Game FAQ

Absolutely. The current version is stylized for Star Wars Day, but the logic and layout can be adapted for ethics training, soft skills, situational judgment, and more.

Instead of basic buttons, this one uses a hover-based interaction. Learners move a glowing holocron orb to reveal decisions, and the entire interface responds fluidly—creating a game-like puzzle with meaningful learning outcomes.

Yes! It stretches Storyline’s new JavaScript API with real-time feedback logic, interactive state changes, and a hidden morality algorithm.

Sure—just reach out! Always happy to share or customize it for your team.

Creating a UI-less eLearning Experience That Feels Like Art

How I Created a UI-less Storyline Experience That Felt Like Art, Not eLearning

Overview

Designing Stillness is a poetic Earth Day meditation, built in Articulate Storyline without any traditional UI. With sound, timing, and motion at its core, it guides users through a calming experience that feels more like digital poetry than online training. This project explores how emotional design can create learning impact, even without a single learning objective.

Try it for yourself!
This UI-less Storyline experience was built with nothing but visuals, sound, and timing.

Play

The Challenge

How do you engage learners without UI, instructions, or gamification? In a world of noisy, click-heavy training, my challenge was to build a digital wellness experience that actually reduces stress instead of adding to it.

The Build

I used Articulate Storyline and:

And now you would never know
There was once a road through the woods
Before they planted the trees.
